Construction
of an SMD LED
The
chip is mounted with its cathode on a slug which pulls the heat away
from the chip
to the PCB the slug is soldered on. The PCB will transfer the heat to a
thermal
management system.
This
concept was designed for high power LEDs,
but has proven useful for all SMD LEDs used in lighting.
